May 15, 2024 (newstodate): Sofia, Bulgaria, has become a new destination on the route map of the Latvian carrier airBaltic.
From this summer, airBaltic is operating three weekly rotations on the route connecting Riga and Sofia with Airbus A220-300 flights.
In support of the new route, the carrier has inked a code-share agreement with Bulgaria Air, taking effect from May 8, 2024.
Under the agreement, airBaltic is adding its code on the Sofia-Varna route, while Bulgaria Air adds its code on the Sofia-Riga route and on the airBaltic-operated flights from Riga to Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen and Helsinki.
Riga Airport has thus become Sofia Airport's first destination in the Baltic region.
