May 31, 2024 (newstodate): With a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 31, 2024, Copenhagen Airport inaugurated a significant expansion of its cargo aircraft parking infrastructure.
Completing a project launched in 2018 and finally approved in 2022, the airport now offers a new MARS parking stand meeting the increasing demands from the airport's users including DHL, FedEx and other regular or ad-hoc all-cargo operators, as well as adhering to all requirements for sustainability and environmental standards.
The Multiple Aircraft Ramp System, MARS, allows for the simultaneous parking of either one wide-body or two narrow-body aircraft, meeting operators' requirements for flexibility in managing daily operations.
-With this new parking stand equipped with Docking Guidance System, Copenhagen Airport can handle up to 19 narrow-body or seven wide-body plus three narrow-body freighter aircraft at the same time, said Morten Mortensen, Copenhagen Airport Snr Director Airline Sales.
Copenhagen Airport is indeed seeing its cargo volumes rising by 19.8 percent, y-o-y, in the first four months of this year.
A total of 192,745 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, including flown and trucked loads on both legacy and integrator carriers.
