May 29, 2024 (newstodate): The Estonian Ministry of Climate has now taken another decisive step towards leaving its stake in aviation business.
Following on the earlier decision in early March to sell its shares in Nordic Aviation Group, and with it the airlines Nordica and Xfly, the Ministry is now also ordering Transpordi Varahaldus, the lessor of aircraft to Nordica, to start preparations for a sale already by the end of June this year.
-The activity of profit generation is not strategically necessary for the state as an owner, which is why the owner has decided to fully exit the aviation business, including through the sale of Transpordi Varahaldus or its assets, followed by the company's eventual liquidation, the Ministry states in a release.
Headquartered in Tallinn, the Nordica group operates flights under two brands, two IOSA-certified AOC’s - XFLY operating nine ATR72-600 and nine CRJ900 and Nordica operating four A320 aircraft.
