May 17, 2024 (newstodate): Once big in cargo, Sweden's Gothenburg Airport has seen total volumes dropping over the recent years.
In Jan-Apr 2024, the airports' total flown volumes were down by nine percent, y-o-y, including 1,926 tonnes of export shipments, down 10.3 percent, and 2,639 tonnes of imports, also down by 8.1 percent.
April '24 alone fared better, with an increase by 7.3 percent in exports to 482 tonnes, and a rise by 28.9 percent to 766 tonnes in imports, totaling 1,248 tonnes.
The y-o-y increases in April '24 are, however, mainly due to an exceptionally low base in April '23.
In 2023, the airport handled a total of 14,315 tonnes of cargo, down 15.3 percent, y-o-y, while volumes in 2020 decreased by 27.8 percent, y-o-y, to 46,254 tonnes.
By contrast, volumes in 2016 reached 61,177 tonnes, rising 7.2 percent, y-o-y.
