May 06, 2024 (newstodate): A new company, Odin Cargo, has been established in Iceland to fill the void left by the retreat from the market of Bluebird Nordic.
Odin Cargo purports to provide the Icelandic market, including notably seafood exporters, with air cargo options through long-term contracts with suppliers to ensure the availability of air freight space to and from Iceland.
The company has been set up in a cooperation between the Dutch shipping company Cargow Thorship and Magnus H. Magnusson, who is now serving as Odin Cargo CEO and formerly with Bluebird Nordic for two periods - last serving as BBN Director of Business Development from October 2020 till the closure of the company in March 2024.
Odin Cargo plans to offer access to cargo capacity on daily flights from Keflavik to Billund and Cologne, with onward trucking connections for fresh seafood shipments.
Odin Cargo has secured partnership agreements with carriers including SAS, UPS Air Cargo and Ethiopian Airlines, enabling Odin Cargo to offer solutions for fresh seafood products from Iceland to Asia, North America and Africa.
Odin Cargo is also an agent for Delta Air Cargo that is operating daily seasonal flights from Keflavík to New York, Minneapolis and Detroit.
