May 24, 2024 (newstodate): Thanks to Qatar Airways Cargo, Norway's Evenes Airport has carved a position as a venue for the country's seafood air exports.
In April 2024, the airport handled 722 tonnes of seafood shipments destined for the global market, 11 percent more than in March 2024, and in this year's first four months the airport has handled 2,250 tonnes of seafood, proving its capability as a venue to air logistics for seafood exporters in the country's northern region, as a viable alternative to trucking south to Oslo Airport.
With the first flight on October 31, 2023, Qatar Airways Cargo marked its return to the airport, and in November-December '23, Qatar Airways Cargo lifted a total of 800 tonnes of cargo on a weekly Boeing 777F service from Evenes to Qatar.
