May 03, 2024 (newstodate): Thailand is mulling plans for resuming direct air services to Russia, stalled since 2020.
According to Russian media, information from the Tourism Authority of Thailand confirms that Thai Airways is considering resuming direct flights from Moscow to Bangkok, while Thai Air Asia X has also expressed its readiness to launch direct flights from Thailand to Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk and Vladivostok.
However, the plans are still under considerations as the Thai authorities have not provided Rosaviation with guarantees of the inviolability of Russian aircraft.
In the meantime, the Russian tourist influx into Thai leisure destinations keeps growing.
Statistics show that since the start of this year, over 760,000 Russian tourists have visited Thailand, securing Russia the place as #3 among Thai tourist pools.
Today, Aeroflot and S7 operate regular flights, and Pegas Fly, Azur Air and Red Wings operate charter flights between Russia and Thailand, while China, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Turkey offer rich possibilities for transfer flights.
