May 23, 2024 (newstodate): Like repeated, seasonal news on the Lochness Monster, Bergen keeps popping up as a potential new destination for Turkish Airlines in Norway.
Already over 10 years ago, Bergen was included in a tentative list of coming new destination on TK's route map - and this was again an issue mentioned in an investor presentation dated September '23.
Bergen was thus included among "future routes" with no further details on start of operations or frequencies.
Now, Bergen is again included as first on a list of coming new destinations contained in Turkish Airline's 2033 Strategy, out now.
Adding some credibility to the plan for opening flights connecting Istanbul and Bergen is the coming split between code share-partners Turkish Airlines and SAS that is soon due to leave the Star Alliance, opening new venues for Turkish Airlines' penetration of the Scandinavian markets.
