May 01, 2024 (newstodate): The British startup airline Global Airlines is now readying to receive its first Airbus A380 aircraft, an ex-China Southern A380, due to land in Prestwick today after storage in Mojave, USA.
   Planning to start operations from London to New York City and Los Angeles later in 2024, Global Airlines purchased its first aircraft in May 2023, and will be operating four Airbus A380 aircraft in cooperation with HiFly Malta.
   HiFly was the 4th European airline, and the 14th global operator, to fly an Airbus A380, becoming also the first wet-leasing airline operating an A380 and inaugurating its second hand market, but the decision to not extend the initial agreed lease period came as a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic that drastically reduced the demand for very large aircraft.
