Jun 10, 2024 (newstodate): Oslo Airport's World Seafood Center has a new owner: the Canadian investment platform Slate Asset Management.
With the transaction expected to be closed by the end of this month, WSC's current owner, the private Norwegian developer Oslo Airport City has thus successfully completed the mission to turn visions into reality, starting the development of Oslo Seafood Center in 2016 to serve as a transit-oriented development and a “Gateway to the Nordics.”
-We are very pleased with Slate’s interest in our development and acquisition of our largest development so far, the World Seafood Center, says Thor Thoeneie, OAC Chief Executive Officer.
-Our fourth building is now under construction, the new main terminal for GF Logistikk, a 6,000 m2 facility designed for handling of airfreight for road distribution in Norway, and we are planning for our fifth new build for Grieg Seafood planning to establish a 25,000 m2 processing factory designed for an annual salmon processing capacity of 10,000–12,000 tonnes, with an option of increasing capacity to 20,000 tonnes at a later stage. Both are single tenant buildings on long leases as immediate neighbors to the World Seafood Center.
Among the property’s largest tenants is Mowi, the world’s largest seafood company listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, controlling some 20 percent of global seafood distribution and selling products in over 70 countries.
The World Seafood Terminal's main tenant, Gardermoen Perishables Center, owned by Schenker Norway, DHL and the Norwegian freight forwarder Air Cargo Logistics, officially launched regular operations from August 14, 2023, with 20,000 m2 on an 18-years lease contract with an option for further expansion.
