Jun 17, 2024 (newstodate): With the opening of new airports starting with Nuuk Airport from November 28, 2024, Greenland will see a boost in air connectivity with same-day connections to and from Europe and beyond.
While waiting to see if/when new carriers will find routes to Greenland commercially viable, Air Greenland will build new opportunities on its code-share agreement with SAS and Icelandair, using Copenhagen and Keflavik as hubs for onward through-ticket flights.
A new Air Greenland timetable from next summer will offer four weekly evening departures from Copenhagen to Nuuk, rendering today's over-night stops at Kangerlussuaq redundant, while the aircraft will then return to Copenhagen next morning for same-day connections facilitating arrivals at destinations in Europe and USA.
Air Greenland's Transatlantic traffic will be operated by the carrier's single Airbus A330-800neo supplemented as usual by seasonal aircraft capacity leased from the Danish carrier Jettime.
