Jun 07, 2024 (newstodate): Cargo volumes are still rising in 2024 at Finland's Helsinki Airport.
In May 2024, the airport handled a total of 15,487 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 3.4 percent which was however the weakest monthly growth so far into the year.
Growth in May was provided by a rise by 3.3 percent to 15,302 tonnes in international cargo.
During the first five months of 2024, the airport has handled 73,305 tonnes of international and domestic cargo and mail, up seven percent, y-o-y.
Boding well for a continued increase in cargo this summer is Japan Airlines going up from three to five weekly rotations between Tokyo Haneda Airport and Helsinki Airport.
Finnair is also to increase, with services to Osaka Kansai International Airport going up from three to five weekly rotations; flights to Tokyo Narita International Airport will increase from four to six weekly rotations in addition to the currently daily service to Tokyo Haneda International Airport, while Finnair has returned services to Nagoya from May 30, 2024, with two weekly rotations.
