Jun 06, 2024 (newstodate): Finnair reports cargo growth in all international traffic areas.
The airline thus carried a total of 13,018 tonnes of cargo in May 2024, an increase by 12.7 percent, y-o-y.
On the Asian lanes volumes were up five percent to 6,547 tonnes, while volumes on the M East sector dominated by the coop with Qatar Airways on Helsinki-Doha accruing to 1,838 tonnes was up 16.3 percent.
European cargo traffic increased by 33 percent to 2,978 tonnes, while volumes on the N Atlantic lanes were up by 14 percent to 1,610 tonnes.
In the first five months of 2024, Finnair saw volumes increasing by 11.6 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 58,983 tonnes, with Asian volumes rising 11.1 percent to 31,783 tonnes.
By comparison, in the first five months of 2023, Finnair's total cargo volumes totaling 52,844 tonnes but trailing 3.8 percent after 2022.
Finnair is thus clearly recovering in cargo volumes, while still far below pre-covid volumes; reporting on its performance in May 2019, Finnair saw its total volumes up by 12.8 percent to 15,351 tonnes, bringing the five-months total in 2019 to 67,167 tonnes - up 18 percent, y-o-y.
