Jun 19, 2024 (newstodate): Norse Atlantic Airways is applying a flexible approach to keeping its fleet busy despite seasonality.
In summer periods, the carrier is focusing on operating own scheduled routes, primarily on the Transatlantic network, while slack winter seasons require the carrier to seek external customers for ACMI and other lease contracts as well as operating charter flights.
Norse Atlantic Airways has thus now landed a contract with the Italian carrier Neos, allocating one Boeing 787 aircraft at Milan Malpensa Airport during the northern winter 2024-25 season to operate long-haul routes to destinations including Mombasa, Kenya; Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Zanzibar.
In February, Norse Atlantic Airways similarly landed an ACMI contract with the Nigerian carrier Air Peace, with Norse to operate flights for Air Peace between London and Lagos, Nigeria, with four weekly rotations commencing from April 2024, initially for a two months period, with provision for extension.
Norse also obtained the extension by another year of the lease of three Boeing 787-8 aircraft to Air Europe, with redeliveries now slated to March-May 2025 rather than by March-May this year as earlier planned.
Norse's charter operations have also increased in 2024, setting a new record with 107 operations during the first three months this year.
In the fleet of Norse Atlantic Airways are now 15 Boeing 787 aircraft.
