Jun 12, 2024 (newstodate): Norwegian seafood exporters have confirmed Norway's Evenes Airport as an attractive venue for new air logistics.
In May 2024, the airport handled a total of 585 tonnes of cargo, and during the first five months of this year, the airport has thus been handling 2,988 tonnes of cargo, compared to only a trifle in 2023.
The positive development is entirely due to Qatar Airways Cargo that returned to Evenes Airport with the first flight on October 31, 2023, and already in November-December '23, Qatar Airways Cargo lifted 800 tonnes of seafood shipments on a weekly Boeing 777F service from Evenes to Qatar.
Earlier, Qatar Airways Cargo launched freighter operations at Evenes Airport on December 14, 2020, offering three weekly operations, but the carrier suspended operations at Evenes again from November 2022.
