Jun 05, 2024 (newstodate): Flown cargo volumes handled at Sweden's Stockholm Airport continue to rise in 2024 - and prospects for further growth are promising.
In May 2024, total flown volumes thus increased by eight percent, y-o-y, to 8,048 tonnes, driven by a strong rise in imports by 29.7 percent to 3,913 tonnes, while exports were still down by 6.8 percent to 4,135 tonnes.
In the first five months of this year, the airport has been handling 37,699 tonnes which is only 0.7 percent, y-o-y, behind last year and a clear recovery from the drop by 2.8 percent, y-o-y, in January-April '24.
Prospects for cargo at Stockholm Arlanda Airport are now expected to improve further with the opening of new flights by Air Canada between Stockholm and Montreal to launch from June 14, 2024, also with three weekly rotations, adding flights also to Toronto from June 2024, while Delta is already back with seasonal flights to New York JFK.
