Jul 01, 2024 (newstodate): Today marks the long-awaited return of Thai Airways services to Norway.
   From the start, Thai Airways will be operating the route with Airbus A350-900 aircraft till the start of the winter 2024/25 schedule, when the larger Boeing 777-300ER will take over to cover the growing traffic winter demand.   
   Despite SAS' decision to leave Star Alliance, Thai Airways will need a partner to provide feeder services in Norway to and from Oslo Airport, and the two airlines have inked a new code-share agreement for this purpose.
   Thai Airways will thus add its prefix to SAS' flights between Oslo and Bergen, Haugesund, Kristansand, Stavanger and Trondheim.
   Thai Airways earlier launched flights to Oslo from June 15, 2009, but suspended all Scandinavian services from April 1, 2020, as the Covid-19 pandemic deepened.
    The service is of significance in Norway's airfreight market as the carrier usually lifts up to 18-20 tonnes of cargo, depending on passenger loads, including fresh salmon to the Asian markets.
