Jul 30, 2024 (newstodate): July 12, 2024, marked the hand-over of the first Boeing 777 aircraft to Maersk Air Cargo at a ceremony at Boeing’s headquarters in Seattle, USA.
The Boeing 777F that landed at MAC's hub at Billund Airport the following day is the first of two B777F aircraft for MAC, with the second to follow by Q3, 2024 - and the first Boeing 777 on Danish registry.
The new cargo aircraft will be deployed on Maersk’s existing Europe-China route with initially three weekly flights, and later up to six weekly rotations.
After the deliveries, the fleet of Maersk Air Cargo will total 22 freighters, including also 20 Boeing 767F aircraft.
Launching freighter operations at Billund Airport from March 20, 2023, with three weekly rotations between Billund and Hangzhou, Maersk Air Cargo is now operating daily rotations on the route in addition to ad-hoc operations to and from other European airports.
