Jul 04, 2024 (newstodate): Still comparatively slow in seeing cargo volumes returning, Stockholm Arlanda Airport did grow flown cargo volumes in Jan-Jun 2024.
A total of 45,305 tonnes of flown cargo was thus handled in H1/24, which is 0.3 percent up on last year.
A modest increase, but still an improvement on the Jan-May '24 volumes that were 0.7 percent down, y-o-y, and January-April '24 also down by 2.8 percent.
In June 2024 alone, total volumes were even up by 5.4 percent, y-o-y, to 7,606 tonnes, with imports rising 25.3 percent, y-o-y, to 3,624 tonnes, while exports still lagged behind by 7.8 percent to 3,983 tonnes.
Prospects for flown cargo at Stockholm Arlanda Airport are expected to improve further with the opening of flights by Air Canada between Stockholm and Montreal launched on June 14, 2024, with three weekly rotations, adding flights also to Toronto from June 2024, while Delta is already back with seasonal flights to New York JFK.
