Aug 13, 2024 (newstodate): Already the largest European operator of the Airbus A220-300 aircraft, airBaltic has now firmed up for half of its remaining purchase rights.
The decision concerns 10 of the 20 purchase rights above the first tranche of 50 aircraft and the firm purchase agreement for 30 Airbus A220-300 aircraft signed at last year's Dubai Airshow.
airBaltic has thus now committed to a fleet of 90 aircraft of the type, 48 of which are already in service.
AirBaltic thus plans to operate a fleet of close to 100 A220-300 aircraft by 2030, with deliveries for the additional "30 plus 10" A220-300s planned to start in 2026.
airBaltic was the launch carrier of the Bombardier CS300, later renamed Airbus A220-300, with its first CS300 introduced on scheduled flights from December 14, 2016.
