Aug 27, 2024 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic will expand its training capabilities with the delivery of a second Airbus A220 full flight simulator.
Scheduled for delivery in Q4/2024, the new simulator will enhance the airline's ability to train and maintain the qualifications of its growing number of pilots, supporting both the airline's fleet expansion and the continued development of its Pilot Academy.
airBaltic commissioned its first A220 full-flight simulator in December 2019 as a novelty not only with airBaltic, but in the world.
The simulator today installed at airBaltic's training center near Riga Airport supports the training of A220 cockpit crews for airBaltic, as well as attracting external customers for the aircraft type that is advancing in the world's airline fleets.
Today, there are only two A220 full-flight simulators in Northern Europe, one of which is thus at airBaltic's training academy.
Outside Northern Europe, similar simulators in Europe are located in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and France.
