Aug 01, 2024 (newstodate): Both of the two Airbus A321neo aircraft formerly operated by the Swedish charter carrier Novair have finally found their future in Uzbekistan.
Novair ceased operations by the end of October 2023, returning its two aircraft to their owner, the US aircraft leasing company ALC.
After half a year stuck on the ground at Prague Airport, the first aircraft was finally placed on a new contract with the Uzbek start-up carrier Air Samarkand that performed its first commercial flight on December 29, 2023.
After almost one full year on grass, the second Airbus A321neo has now also found its future in Uzbekistan, albeit on a contract with a competing Uzbek carrier, Centrum Air.
As a subsidiary of the Uzbek cargo carrier My Freighter, Centrum Air was established in 2023 with a fleet of five aircraft, wet-leased from Lithuania's GetJet Group, including two Boeing 737 and three Airbus A320 aircraft to offer domestic flights connecting five airports in Uzbekistan, and later to expand the network to comprise international destinations in markets including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, India, and South Korea.
