Aug 09, 2024 (newstodate): British Airways has announced a suspension of services between London and Beijing from the end of the current summer 2024 schedule.
The last flight on the route from London Heathrow to Beijing Daxing Airport will thus be performed on October 26, 2024.
As the prime reason, BA cites the ongoing closure of Russian airspace that extends the distance of the route avoiding Russian airspace by some 1,000 nautical miles.
British Airways will however continue operations on its two other southerly routes to Shanghai and Hong Kong, respectively.
Also another British carrier, Virgin Atlantic, has announced its decision to stop flights on the route, the airline's single connection between the UK and China.
