Aug 14, 2024 (newstodate): Helsinki Airport is reportedly seeing growing volumes of e-trade shipments from China and other Asian markets.
Actually, e-commerce volumes are expected to increase to some 1,000 tonnes monthly by the end of 2024, compared to a full-year total of 50 tonnes in 2023.
This is largely due to the rise of a new local e-commerce logistics company, Nordic Parcel Express, building on strong local cargo handling experiences and infrastructure as well as by relying on a new type of neutral and scalable software technologies, x7trade, a neutral SaaS-based platform for automated customs clearance and ENS compliance of low-value e-commerce goods, developed by the Tallinn-based company Feeport OÜ.
Another factor contributing to Nordic Parcel Express' success has been a close cooperation with its cargo handling partner ASR Cargo Center at Helsinki, a long-time use of Qstep air cargo handling SaaS platform, developed by another Tallinn-based technology company, Qstep logiciel OÜ.
Qstep manages e-commerce shipments on parcel and goods item level, particularly important for presenting goods to customs as well as for fast customs reporting purposes.
Initially, Nordic Parcel Express was developed within the ASR Cargo Center, but soon established as a separate neutral entity specializing in customs clearance and handling of the low-value e-commerce goods and coordination with other supply chain members.
Soon closing its first year of operations, Nordic Parcel Express, managed by Antoni Ahlstgedt as Gen Mgr, started out with only one employee in August 2023; today, the company employs eight team members, with more to be recruited.
