Aug 08, 2024 (newstodate): For Finnair, July 2024 was another month with growth in cargo volumes.
In July, Finnair Cargo thus noted an increase in total cargo volumes by 15.8 percent, y-o-y, to 12,637 tonnes.
Volumes carried on the Asian lanes accounted for 6,725 tonnes, up 14.8 percent; volumes on the North Atlantic routes increased by 28.6 percent to 1,484 tonnes, and volumes on the Middle Eastern lane to Doha, operated for Qatar Airways, were up by 9.7 percent to 1,834 tonnes.
In January-July 2024, Finnair Cargo has lifted a total of 84,515 tonnes, increasing 11.5 percent, y-o-y, with volumes on the Asian lanes also up by 9.9 percent to 45,050 tonnes, while 13,466 tonnes were carried on the flights to Doha, up 8.1 percent, y-o-y.
This month, Finnair and Qatar Airways announced the end of the "strategic cooperation" by mid-January 2025, whereby Finnair has performed daily flights to Doha from Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki, with cargo volumes carried on the flights accounted for in Finnair's statistics.
So far, the flights from Helsinki will remain as of today - but the shortfall of volumes from Copenhagen and Stockholm will entail a drop in Finnair Cargo's statistics.
Today, some 16 percent of Finnair's total cargo volumes are generated on Finnair's operations for Qatar Airways.
