Aug 27, 2024 (newstodate): The long-coveted opening of direct flights between the USA and Kazakhstan has drawn a bit closer.
Representatives of the US FAA are currently in Kazakhstan on a review mission to open direct flights to the United States from Kazakhstan at the end of 2025 already, according to the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan.
-After Kazakhstan successfully passes the FAA audit and the delivery of new long-haul Boeing aircraft, direct flights from Kazakhstan to the United States will be opened, the ministry says.
In November 2022, Kazakhstan's leading airline Air Astana signed an order with Boeing for three Boeing 787-9 aircraft on a long-term leasing contract with ALC.
The first aircraft will arrive in Kazakhstan in late 2025, with the two last to follow in early 2026.
Another precondition for launch of direct Kazakhstan-USA flights was achieved in January 2020 with the signing of an Open Skies Agreement between the two countries, establishing the legal framework for direct scheduled flights.
Already in 2010, Air Astana named Strike Aviation its cargo GSA in the US market with effect from March 12, 2010.
