Aug 09, 2024 (newstodate): The low-cost carrier flydubai has put its plans for launch of flights to the three Baltic market on hold.
Starting from October 11, 2024, the carrier would introduce three weekly rotations on the route connecting Dubai and Riga, in Latvia; the following day would see the launch of flights from Dubai to Tallinn in Estonia and to Vilnius in Lithuania, also to be served with three weekly rotations, with Aviareps appointed as the carrier's passenger GSA in the Baltic markets.
Now these plans have been put on hold - while not off the table.
flydubai has announced that its expansion plans have been significantly impacted by Boeing’s latest update regarding ongoing delays in its aircraft delivery schedule.
After repeated revisions of the delivery schedule for 2024, Boeing will not deliver the 14 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft originally scheduled for the year.
The aircraft delivered in the first half of 2024 were from the backlog of previous years and faced extensive delays.
flydubai has more than 125 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft on order to be delivered over the next decade.
