Aug 06, 2024 (newstodate): With an overly long intercontinental flight, Norse Atlantic Airways has scored another First in the country's aviation history.
On August 3, 2024, the carrier thus performed the first-ever direct nonstop flight from Norway to Australia with a Boeing 787-9 aircraft, requiring 16.5 hours flying time to cover the 14,730 km distance between Oslo and Darwin International Airport.
The flight was, however, a one-off event as a charter operation for AlbaStar, a private Spanish airline, and brokered by Aircontact, a leading Norwegian aircraft broker.
Another First was secured by Norse Atlantic Airways performing a landing in 2023 on a 3,000m and 60m wide ice strip at Troll Aerodrome in Antarctica on behalf of the Norwegian Polar Institute.
