Aug 08, 2024 (newstodate): Norway's seafood exporters will greet the opening of yet another venue for uplift to Asia from Oslo Airport.
Starting from September 4, 2024, Hong Kong Air Cargo will launch a weekly flight between Oslo and Hong Kong via Almaty, in Kazakhstan, with Airbus A330-200F offering the capacity of some 65 tonnes. It is unclear, however, if the services at Oslo Airport will be an extension of Hong Kong Air Cargo's other European flights, or direct HKG-OSL-HKG flights, which will have a bearing on the actual allotment available for the Norwegian market
The new operator will offer direct cargo uplift into the important cargo hub at Hong Kong with access to onward connections to Asian destinations.
One salient feature of the new route is the operations on Wednesdays, avoiding the Tuesday peak of freighter traffic at Oslo Airport.
Today, Hong Kong Air Cargo's only other European destinations are Liege, Milan and London.
