Aug 13, 2024 (newstodate): Riga Airport is investing all efforts in facilitating the launch of scheduled cargo services from Uzbekistan.
Earlier this month, the Uzbek cargo carrier FlyKhiva successfully performed its first flight to Riga as its second European destination after Liege that was opened as a new station on August 6, 2024.
Based at Tashkent, the carrier, part of the FlyKhiva Group, operates one Boeing 767-300F freighter on a lease contract with Icelandair and has obtained TCO-status from EASA allowing it to operate flights into the EU under the lessor's AOC.
Hopes at Riga Airport are to see the launch later this year of a scheduled weekly service from Tashkent, bringing in e-trade shipments from China for distribution in the European markets.
