Sep 04, 2024 (newstodate): Good news for Sweden's airports and aviation-related businesses: the era of "flygskam" is near its end.
The Swedish government has proposed the abolition from July 1, 2025, of the special tax on air travels, imposed by the former government in 2018 under heavy pressure from environmentalists.
As of now, the taxation adds the burden on all flights, domestic and international, under a scheme including 75 SEK on Swedish domestic flights, 315 SEK on flights to a/o the USA, and 504 SEK on flights to a/o Thailand.
On the other side of the Oresund, Denmark is to introduce a tax on air travels, taking effect from the start of 2025 and adding 100 DKK to the tickets - heavily contested by the country's aviation and airport businesses.
