Sep 30, 2024 (newstodate): As earlier reported, Air Canada will reduce its flights schedule at Copenhagen Airport in summer 2025.
Flights between Toronto and Copenhagen will be reduced by two weekly rotations to five operations in summer '25, and flights between Montreal and Copenhagen will be operated four times weekly against five times weekly in this summer's schedule.
Has Air Canada found the Danish market too soft to sustain its 2024-traffic levels in the coming summer schedule?
-There is certainly no decline in market demand in Denmark. Only Air Canada lacks aircraft capacity, says Marc Sam, Air Canada Country Manager Nordics & Baltics.
-Deliveries of new aircraft ordered are running behind schedule, and this affects airlines around the world, including Air Canada.
-Also contributing to the challenges is the rising demand in the Asian market that also needs to be satisfied. This is behind our regretful decision to reduce frequencies in summer 2025, says Mr Sam.
Air Canada first launched regular scheduled services to Scandinavia with flights from Toronto to Copenhagen starting from June 24, 2010.
In 2023, the airline expanded its presence in Copenhagen with the addition of new flights from Montreal to Copenhagen starting from June 2, 2023.
Since May 2022, Air Canada is handled by Menzies providing passenger, ramp, cabin cleaning and de-icing services at Copenhagen Airport that has also become one of the first stations to adopt the terms of a Master Services Agreement between Air Canada and Menzies Aviation.
