Sep 02, 2024 (newstodate): Syria's only privately-owned airline Cham Wings is successfully growing its Airbus aircraft fleet - defying western sanctions imposed since 2016.
The latest addition to the fleet is one Airbus A320 aircraft formerly owned by aptly-named Gambian airline Magic Air and flown into Syria via Minsk from Istanbul, in Belarus, bringing the airline's A320 fleet to five units.
Cham Wings has also managed to acquire three Airbus A330-200 aircraft flying into Minsk from Cairo and Muscat, all acquired from Magic Air that bought the aircraft from the UAE-registered carrier Lebanon Sky Aviation.
