Jan 08, 2025 (newstodate): In September 2022, Nordic Aviation Capital became the launch customer for the Embraer E-190 cargo conversion program, marking NAC's debut in the cargo market.
NAC thus entered an agreement with Embraer to convert up to 10 of its fleet of E190 and E195 aircraft from passenger to all-cargo configuration,
Deliveries were slated to start in 2024, with the first two converted freighters leased to Astral Aviation, Africa's only all-cargo airline headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.
However, Astral Aviation pulled out from the agreement in October 2023, and the two aircraft were instead contracted by Regional One, a US lessor and aviation services group, replacing Astral as the first Embraer cargo customer.
Media sources now claim that NAC is pulling out entirely from the Embraer cargo conversion program after its announced acquisition by the Dubai Aerospace Enterprise, due to be finalized later in this year's H1.
