Jan 10, 2025 (newstodate): Avinor is keen to develop the implementation of remote ATM tower control at the country's airports.
Today, Avinor’s Remote Tower Centre in Bodo manages 11 regional airports including the airports at Roest, Vardoe, Hasvik, Berlevag, Mehamn, Roeros, Roervik, Namsos, Svolvaer, Sogndal and Foerde, a number set to grow to 15 by March 2025 by adding Molde, Sandnessjoeen, and Leknes, completing the first phase of Avinor’s remote tower program.
As the next phase, an additional seven new airports will be added, including the new Bodo airport currently under construction.
The project builds on Indra’s InNOVA air traffic control system which provides a single and fully integrated display with all required air traffic and airport control functions, including air traffic situation display, electronic flight strips and meteorological information.
Multiple remote tower operations were developed and validated by Avinor and Indra in 2019 as part of EU’s PJ05 SESAR Remote Tower project.
Avinor will be one of the world's first air navigation service providers to go operational with the concept.
